What’s the worst that can happen!!!!!!

So you have signed up to your first OCR or you are a seasoned veteran, what IS the worst that can happen? See for yourself in the comments below.

Firstly when you look at the course you realise that your trainers might not make it out alive and that you might be getting over the finish line with a sweltchy mess attached to your foot. Make sure you bring some spare footwear…you’ll need em.

Every single OCR from your first one onwards, makes you feel like you’re a kid again. Remember getting scraped knees and messing your school uniform up cause you wanted to go on the rope swing for the last time? Tarzan’s got nuffin on you! But even better, the OCR world lets you get as muddy and as grimy as your excited inner child wants to be.

Cold, wet, tired and covered in mud equals awesome. How strange, far from avoiding it, you actively seek it out when running in an event. Moreover, trust me you will eventually consider setting up a mini OCR in your back garden for the kids or for you and your mates after a few light ales!!

After your first OCR you’ll want to grow a beard to look like a muddy ninja warrior for all the photos for your Facebook smug off. Either that or you will start practicing your end of race pose to ensure you at least look as if your enjoying it!!

You become addicted to trying to give yourself a heart attack, no one at work will understand your need to talk continuously about the techniques for a good time over the course...the losers! As you get more and more enveloped in the world of OCR you will HAVE to get the next set of medals.

Your training gear and trainers cost more than a small South American national debt, yep if you want to get good times you need to invest. You become addicted to throwing yourself into things, your confidence and social skills grow. You meet likeminded people who are into the same things you are and you make firm friends...not bad for a bunch of loonies throwing themselves around mud filled sites eh?

That’s what I think. What do you think is the worst that can happen to you? Let us know below and we will update this after our next Bootneck Challenge event.

Wittering Grange, Wansford, Peterborough PE8 6NR, United Kingdom
